SDCRID

is hosting a Community Town Hall meetinon California State Licensure

Join the conversation!

This workshop will guide participants through the basics of state licensure for sign language interpreters. Participants will learn about states that already have active legislation for sign language interpreters and the difference between a state registry, license, and certification. Participants will identify features and benefits as well as costs of establishing a state license and the potential impact on stakeholders.

The town hall will utilize presentations, open forum discussion, and small group activities to rouse meaningful discussion between participants and will provide a safe environment for all in attendance to share their thoughts, feelings, and questions about this topic.

This is your opportunity to find out what the buzz around town is all about! Whether you are a Deaf person, consumer of services, student, or interpreter,  this state licensure will more than likely effect you. We are lucky to have Dustin Pelloni and Cody Firks, who have been attending other Town Hall meetings and have been heavily active in the conversation statewide. Come to this highly informative town hall to find out more.

**This Town Hall is FREE to everyone**

SDCRID normally conducts meetings and workshops in ASL, we would like to continue this in hopes to make this event accessible to everyone. If you are a non-signer and are in need of voice interpretation, please contact us ASAP. Our email is below.
